The Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) designation, established in 1980, is the speaking industry's international measure of professional platform skill. CSP is conferred throughout the International Federation for Professional Speakers only on those who have earned it by meeting strict criteria. The letters CSP following a speaker's name indicate a competent speaking professional with proven experience who understands what is required and knows how to deliver client satisfaction. Fewer than ten percent of the 4,700 speakers who belong to the International Federation for Professional Speakers hold this professional designation and less than 160 female speakers hold designation.
Standards of the Designation

Every CSP must:

Maintain membership and subscribe to the Code of Professional Ethics;

Serve a minimum number of different clients within 5 years;
Present a minimum number of professional speaking engagements within this same 5-year period;
Submit testimonial letters from over 20 clients served;
Submit professionally prepared promotional materials;
Receive excellent ratings from past clients on professional performance evaluations; and
Continue education in the professional speaking field through NSA's many educational programs

You don't have to jump out of a perfectly good plane to find a speaker or program that meets your needs.

Leading without Authority is like Skydiving without a Parachute

Audience

Open to all people who find themselves leading or supervising someone without authority over the person or employees who need to improve their method of working with other people.

What is to be learned?

Almost every situation in our lives benefits from good leadership. The opportunity could present itself in anything from a formal work setting to an unexpected crisis. When people don't have the advantage of "positional power” to help carry weight, as does the official boss, depending on true leadership qualities is necessary to enlist others in working with you. As organizations continue to flatten their structures, more and more employees find themselves in positions where they are leading teams or projects without direct authority over the other employees involved. Leading without official authority can be one of the most challenging leadership situations. It certainly is the opportunity when one must demonstrate great leadership skills to be effective. Leading without authority requires significant insight into what needs to be done, the ability to create and/or align people behind a compelling vision or goal, and the ability to organize and implement action as summarized above. We will look at existing situations in the organization and develop a program to meet the needs of the employees as we look at steps to help people land safely as they guide others.
